The main purpose of the South Okanagan Whiskey Tasting Society is to educate Members and Guests on the whiskeys of the world, and to enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded whiskey enthusiasts.
We enjoy five general meetings each year: January (Robbie Burns), March (St. Patrick’s), May (SOWTS AGM), September (open theme) and November (American Thanksgiving). A brief General Meeting starts each event followed by tasting and dinner segments.
We include various styles of whiskey from many countries around the world in our tastings. These styles include a wide range of single malt, grain, bourbon, rye, and blended whiskeys. While many of our whiskeys are from Scotland, we also select whiskeys from other countries including Ireland, the USA, Canada, Japan, Wales, and India. Several homegrown BC whiskeys have also featured in our tastings.
At our regular tasting events, we help our members learn to detect the subtle nuances that make each whisky unique, thereby heightening their enjoyment and respect for their favourite drink.
